The Cambrian Village Trust was established in 2000 with the aim of promoting sporting opportunities for young people in the Mid-Rhondda area irrespective of age or ability. The Trust is the Community arm of Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC. Since forming the Trust has achieved a number of notable successes including:
- Provision of a schools soccer coaching
- Soccer initiative for primary, secondary and special school children.
- Provision of an all weather floodlit astro turf area
- Securing and development of Lakeside building’s for educational and social purposes
The Trust currently employs two full time soccer coaches who deliver quality provision to over 2000 young people throughout the year. These coaches work in numerous junior schools and Secondary Schools in the Rhondda area, providing service through PPA cover, E3 and 5x60. The trust also runs a post 16 football academy at Tonypandy Community College.
The Terry Venable's Soccer 2000 scheme has been very successful with thousands of children being given the opportunity to undertake quality coaching delivered through the medium of fun.
During the past year the Trust is working closely with The Coalfields Regeneration Trust to tackle social deprivation through the medium of football.
