First Team: Troedyrhiw (H)

Cambrian 3 - 1 Troedyrhiw

Forty four places separate Cambrian and Troedyrhiw who met at King George's field Friday evening for the second round of the Welsh Cup.

Cambrian looked certain to score an early goal with sharp passing and pace on the wings and it wasn’t long before Steve Turner turned in his second goal in two games after Troedyrhiw failed to clear a corner. More spectacular than the goal was Turner's somersault celebration which the fans also enjoyed at Bridgend the week before.

Scott Seldon nearly gave Cambrian a second before the break with a long range effort which Troedyrhiw's goalkeeper only just touched over the bar. It was a poor start from the visitors not managing a shot on target before the half time whistle.

The second half saw Troedyrhiw come close to scoring but at the wrong end of the park, a ball into the box from Daniel Lever was nearly placed over the keeper by a Troedyrhiw defender. Troedyrhiw's frustration started to show as they received a second yellow card and kept conceding free kicks around their box and they were lucky when a penalty shout was waved away by the referee. Their frustrations were answered soon after; a defensive error by Cambrian gave Troedyrhiw a one on one which was tucked away neatly.

Steve Turner almost equalised moments later, just pinging the outside of the post with a strike that left Troedyrhiw's keeper rooted. Cambrian were back on top when Jason Bertorelli hit in Cambrian’s second on the edge of the box making it 2-1.

It was Bertorelli who closed the game off with his second of the match, skilfully avoiding the last defender and beating Troedyrhiw's goalkeeper once again
