Match Report

First Team: Bridgend Town (A)

Bridgend 0 - 2 Cambrian

Cambrian & Clydach faced Bridgend away at their impressive new pitch "The Brewery Field" under the flood lights with over 300 fans attending. The atmosphere seemed to tame Cambrian for the first 10 minutes of the match with possession and chances going Bridgend’s way.

However after around 15 minutes Lee Matthew's persistence won Cambrian a throw which Steve Turner placed within the centre of the six yard box, Dane williams headed toward goal and Huw Bowtell happily finished off with a flick past the home keeper Collins. Bridgend came back with a one on one which Jarad Howells just pushed away from Wattleworth's feet.

Cambrian's Liam Hutchinson looked deadly from the corner flag, a second conceded corner in a row saw an unmarked Steve Turner hit an unstoppable headed ball in from a few yards out. Bowtell nearly scored a second after a cross in from Scott Seldon but was denied by the post.

More pressure came Bridgend's way with an outstanding strike from Jason Bertorelli which pulled a great save from Collins. With Cambrian two goals clear before half time it seemed unlikely Bridgend would be able to make a come back.

The second half saw Bridgend try to take control but Cambrian's defence were too strong and their attack too sharp, the best efforts coming from Bertorelli and Hutchinson whose header was cleared off the goal line.

The rest of the half saw more chances for Cambrian to finish off Bridgend, James Mahoney picking up the ball on the edge of his own 20 yard box, out running the winger and finding himself a one on one with Collins which he blocked well outside his area. It seemed all to easy for Cambrian as Scott Hayward picked up the ball in his own area and walked almost unchallenged and was able to try a shot from 30 yards out, Cambrian kept looking for a 3rd goal, Dane Williams strike just wide of the post in the last minutes of the game. Another great result for Cambrian & Clydach who are unbeaten since July.
