First Team: Caldicot Town (H)

Cambrian Concede 3 Goals in last 10 Minutes to draw

Cambrian looked dangerous from the off, Scott Seldons pace causing problems for Caldicot on the wing and it would be from there Cambrain’s first goal would be made, Jason Bertorelli put a cutting pass to Dane Williams on the right wing who set up Huw Bowtell for a tap in. Cambrian began to dominate the half with quick passing and physical play. Caldicot struggled to get into the game and spent most of the first half defending, a free kick on the halfway line gave them a chance to attack but a short pass was picked up by Cambrian and put Bortorelli in on gaol who was able to put Bowtell in for his second of the match. Bertorelli had three chances to make it 3-0, a cross from Dane Williams was flicked just over the bar, a through ball from Lee Matthews was cut out by the keeper and a long dangerous back pass was struck well but once again the keeper was able to save. Dane Williams also found himself on the end of a great through ball from Bowtell, Williams was able to take it around the keeper but was cleared off the line.

A frustrated Caldicot found themselves in more trouble early on in the second half, a yellow card for arguing with the referee and then another goal from Bowtell making it his hat-trick set up by a cross by Bertorelli. Caldicot received another booking but this time saved a goal, Bertorelli had just beaten the keeper in the air, as the ball rolled toward the goal the referee had already blown up and given Cambrian a free kick in their own half. It seemed as if Bertorelli would not manage a goal hitting the bar with his next effort. The chances kept coming Cambrians way with Bowtell heading just wide and Bertorelli denied again this time a good save from the Caldicot keeper who was determined not to concede again. Caldicot received their third yellow card for abuse directed at the referee. Bowtell found himself looking at his forth of the match when James Mahoney picked up the ball after the keeper had failed to clear but shot wide of an empty net. Cambrian continued to worry Caldicot’s defence with attack after attack, Huw Bowtell was pulled down in the box but the referee claimed it as a fair challenge. A shot from James Mahoney was just cleared for a corner which saw Caldicot’s keeper pull off another good save at the back post.

Caldicot picked up a free kick for offside just inside their own half, their keeper put in a long ball which was headed in to make it 3-1. Lee Mathews failed to make it 4-1 pulling his shot wide only moments after Caldicot’s first goal. Caldicot celebrated their second goal just a few minutes later; a cross was headed toward goal by Cambrian’s Robbie Thomas that beat keeper Jarrad Howells making it 3-2. Cambrian came back with another quick attack, Caldicot’s keeper pulling off an impressive double save keeping his team in the game. Caldicot flooded the box after winning a corner with only seconds left and were able to head in to take a share of the points.
