First Team: Aberaman Athletic (A)

Cambrian 6 goal stormer at Aberaman

Cambrian get their most convincing win this season over top of the league Aberaman.

The first half was a close contest, good defending from Cambrian's James Mahoney "Jimmy" and a great save by Jarred Howells saw off some early pressure from Aberaman. Cambrian had a clear chance to take the lead after a through ball to Jimmy saw him fail to put unmarked Jason Bertorelli "Bertie" in and chipped into the keepers hands, Aber managed a goal from this save, a defensive error allowed Aberaman a tap in to take a 1-0 lead.

Bertie equalised before half time beating the keeper with a near post smash. Cambrian started to take control of the game at this point having several decent attempts on goal before halftime.

The second half looked promising for Cambrian as their goal scorer had a long range effort early on which just went wide of the post. Dane Williams put Cambrian into the lead with a long range shot over the keeper who failed to clear his lines. Not long after Bertie was able to extend the lead with another shot outside the box which was low and hard, again nothing the keeper could do about it. With a chance to head home the 4th and a one on one with the keeper it looked like things were out of reach for Aberaman, when Bertie fell on Aberaman's keeper seeing him leave the field 3-1 down and Cambrian having a throw in. Aberaman's replacement keeper saw the first of the ball run between his legs as his own defender helped Cambrian into a 4-1 lead.

Another failed clearance by a Aber keeper allow Dane Williams to score another cracking goal tucked neatly into the top of the netting (5-1). Aberaman finally getting a chance on goal later in the second half saw a good effort hit the post, when Dane tried to clear the ball caught one of Aberaman's players for a penalty. Aberaman were able to make it 5-2. Cambrian came back with more chances including a volley at the back post cleared off the line, Huw Bowtell finished off with a goal tucked under the goal keeper just before full time
