The Academy teams made the long trip to Carmarthen Town on Sunday looking to kick start the new year with victories.
The Under 12s team got their first win of the season thanks to long range goals from James Tomkinson, Matthew Smith and Jac Davies in a 3-1 victory. The team fell behind in the first period despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances. But three goals in ten minutes won it for the valley Academy in a thoroughly deserved win.
The Under 14s were defeated despite being level for most of the game. Alex Davies hit a wonderfully chipped effort into the roof of the net to level the scores at half time. However, the lads who are playing teams a year older than them couldnt hold on in the second period and struggled with the size and strength of thier opponents. A 4-1 defeat in the end but more positives from this talented squad.
The Under 16s had the privilage of playing at the fantastic home of Carmarthen Town, Richmond Park. The team utilised this massive pitch to the maximum and had six clear cut chances to break the deadlock, whilst never really being threatened at the back. Failed efforts at goal ment the team had to share the points in a 0-0 stalemate.
All-round another great weekend for the academy.
